About Us
Anna and the Joanna's (AATJ) have been together for 2 years now, writing and performing some truly emotive music. AATJ are based in London and their EP, comprising of the 3 songs listed on this site, will be in circulation in 2010.
Anna:
Anna has been raised on the likes of the Beatles, James Taylor, The Eagles and Don McLean, to name but a few, coming from a family where music was the main source of entertainment and education. This, coupled with her later found passion for Soul music, meant Anna developed a unique fusion of folk and soul music in her songwriting. Anna started writing music at the tender age of 11, and performed her first gig at the same age, as a backing vocalist for a 'Pink Floyd' tribute band. Anna went on to study music at College and University level, where she met Joey, and certainly shows this experience through her songwriting and performance.
Joey:
With influences such as Ben Folds Five, Ray Manzarek and singer songwriters such as Dallas Green it is really no surprise that Joey is at as high a level as she is musically. Joey has been playing piano since the age of 7 and is a classically trained vocalist, bringing a soft and rounded sound and complimenting the deeper and husky voice of the lead singer. Joey has been performing for a staggering 16 years and this really shows when listening to her improvisational skills in a live environment. Joey went on to study music at College and University level, where she met Anna, and these qualifications could not be more apparent when listening to her imaginative and emotive piano parts.
